HowCanWeHelp Moves On….
HowCanWeHelp was a result of COVID. Everything was shutting down, but survivors of domestic violence still needed help. Once the pandemic subsided, we expanded our support to local organizations helping people transition into their new homes after a period, sometimes years, of being homeless. We have helped hundreds of adults and a couple of hundred children. We are very proud of what we built and accomplished. It is now time for us to move on to the next phase of our lives. Our last Garage Sale Fundraiser will take place on June 5th and 6th. We will stock up the three main organizations we support with household goods so that they may continue to move forward until they find an alternative solution. All donations and funds raised will still go directly to benefit these organizations as promised.
We are grateful for your support over the last several years!

ITEM OF THE MONTH
Each month we feature an item that is especially needed.
We do not have a single item for the month - we are seeking donations of all items at this time!
More About Us
All of our recipients come to us through local organizations such as the Domestic Violence Resource Center of Washington County, Project Homeless Connect, Greater Good and others. This is a best practice for us so that we truly know that these are people in need.
The pictures are a few of the apartments we have set up. Due to the demand, we had to step away from moving the goods and setting them up ourselves. Which was necessary but unfortunate as we really enjoyed meeting them and helping them put their home together.
We have an RV-size storage unit in Hillsboro at Secure Storage across the street from Costco where we house all our treasures waiting to go to a new home. We have volunteers that help sort and organize so that we are able to make sure we have what we need. We also have a husband and wife team that enjoys refinishing/refurbishing furniture that we receive that’s good but could use a little help.
We originally were accepting mattresses/box springs/frames but the logistics for moving and storage became overwhelming and we were concerned with sanitary issues. With our fundraising, donations, and grants we are now able to purchase a bed-in-a-box and a platform frame, eliminating the need for box springs. This has saved us so much room and our backs! Each bed/frame is a cost to us averaging $300 and accounts for our largest expenditure. The storage unit itself is our next biggest expense and then we have the cleaning supplies and miscellaneous items we run low on through donations from the community.
Please visit our HowCanYOUHelp tab to see the items that we collect. If you are unsure if an item would work you are welcome to email us a picture.
We do request that all items be delivered to our storage unit - one of us is usually available to meet you with little notice.
We do have a Wish List on Amazon as well.
